Niklas Sundqvist

Introduction

Niklas specialises in insurance law and tort law. Prior to joining Inventio, he gained solid practical experience at one of Finland’s largest insurance companies and at a law firm specialising in commercial law.

His background in the insurance industry gives Niklas an exceptionally practical perspective on handling insurance law matters, as well as an in-depth understanding of insurance companies’ operating models, claims processes and risk assessment. Niklas works with determination and a solution-oriented approach, always aiming for the outcome that best serves the client’s interests. He carefully assesses the various options for moving forward, takes the business objectives of the matter into account and adapts his strategy depending on the situation.

Niklas assists clients in particular with matters relating to property and business interruption claims, as well as project insurance. In addition, Niklas advises on matters relating to recourse claims and tort law, as well as litigation and arbitration proceedings.

Insurance law issues in the construction and property sectors are one of Niklas’s key areas of expertise. Niklas’s expertise covers contractors’ all risks insurance (CAR), erection all risks insurance (EAR), delay in start-up insurance (DSU), and the interpretation and application of these insurance products within the context of large-scale construction and property projects.

Niklas also assists clients with insurance law issues relating to strategic projects undertaken by international companies, such as property investments, construction projects and other significant business arrangements. In these assignments, his particular areas of expertise include assessing the scope of insurance cover, risk allocation, the division of liability, and the coordination of insurance and contractual arrangements.

Niklas also designs and delivers bespoke training for companies, operators in the construction and real estate sectors, and insurance companies. The courses take a practical approach to the content of insurance cover, insurance arrangements relating to construction and real estate projects, risk management, insurance and tort law, as well as relevant legislation and case law.
